CHONGQING, China, November 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — This is a report from iChongqing: The 2025 Chongqing International Travel Agents Conference officially opened on November 5, marking its fifth successful edition since its debut in 2018.
Organized by the Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission and supported by ten district and county governments, this year’s event had Fiji as the guest of honor. Approximately 400 participants attended, including consular officials, government officials, travel agents, airlines, industry associations, media and online influencers from nearly 40 countries and regions.
During the opening ceremony, Chongqing cultural and tourism organizations signed several cooperation agreements with international partners. The Chongqing Professional Committee for Foreign Language Tour Guides was inaugurated, and five international friends were named “Chongqing Culture and Tourism Promotion Ambassadors 2026”. The conference also showcased innovations in international medical tourism and new entry facilitation policies to boost inbound travel.
Zhao Shiqing, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress, highlighted Chongqing’s ambition to become a world-renowned cultural and tourism destination and its desire to deepen global cooperation in cross-border tourism.
Opening speeches were delivered by Josaia Rayawa of Tourism Fiji, who praised the shared vision of creating unforgettable travel experiences, and Marcel Leijzer of UN Tourism, who highlighted Chongqing’s strong tourism growth and global potential.
The event also included policy briefings on new visa, accommodation and payment facilitation measures to improve the visitor experience.
Five international influencers from the UK, Australia, Russia, Thailand and the US were recognized for promoting Chongqing to a global audience.
With diverse activities and international participation, the conference strengthens Chongqing’s position as a world-class tourism destination and paves the way for future cooperation and growth of inbound tourism.
