Leadership in the New Climate Risk Economy: Industry Leaders, Regulators, Investors and Technology Innovators Convene in Midtown Manhattan to Examine the Rapidly-Evolving Landscape of Climate Risk
NEW YORK, Sept. 21, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — ClimateTech Connect (CTC), the premier conference and community at the intersection of climate risk and technological innovation, will bring together senior leaders from insurance, financial services, capital markets, technology, infrastructure and the public sector for its NYC Edition tomorrow, Tuesday, September 22, during Climate Week NYC.
Taking place from 1:00–5:00 p.m. in Midtown Manhattan, this year’s event, Leadership in the New Climate Risk Economy, will explore how organizations are responding to the accelerating financial and societal implications of physical climate risk, alongside the technologies, capital and new approaches to risk management emerging in response.

THE PROGRAM
The program will open with a keynote from Spencer Glendon, Founder of Probable Futures, setting the stage for a day focused on the intersection of climate science, financial risk and decision-making.
Steve Bowen, Chief Scientist and Meteorologist at Gallagher Re, will take the stage for “Bridging Science to Action,” a compelling look at how climate and extreme weather science can be translated into actionable intelligence for the organizations making critical decisions about risk.
Bowen will explore the increasingly important connection between scientific insight and real-world decision-making, translating how climate risk is changing into the actions organizations need to take next.
Matthew Eby, Managing Director and Head of Physical Risk at MSCI, will join Jeff Gitterman, Managing Director of Gitterman Asset Management, for a fireside conversation examining physical climate risk and its implications for the capital markets.
The regulatory landscape will take center stage in a fireside chat featuring Commissioner Joshua Hershman of the Connecticut Insurance Department and Susan Winkler, Executive Director of Connecticut Insurance and Financial Services (CT-IFS), who will discuss climate and extreme weather risk from a regulatory perspective.
CTC LAUNCHES CTC PERIL LABS
ClimateTech Connect will also formally introduce the CTC Peril Labs, a new industry-led initiative designed to bring experts together to address some of the most consequential and rapidly evolving climate and extreme weather perils.
The initiative will launch with a panel, Perils Reshaping the Future of Risk: Severe Convective Storms | Wildfire | Flood, featuring experts from across insurance, reinsurance, brokerage, technology and climate risk, including:

Technological innovation will remain a central focus of the NYC Edition, with demonstrations and presentations of emerging solutions that help organizations predict, prepare for, respond to and recover from climate and extreme weather events.
