The Vietnamese government has agreed to move the completion date of the No. 1 Metro Line in Ho Chi Minh City to the fourth quarter of 2023.
The earlier deadline for the Ben Thanh and Suoi Tien Theme Park subway line is the fourth quarter of 2021, with a two-year warranty period for the contractors from 2024 to 2025 and the time for operation and maintenance support between 2024 and 2028, the government reported. Baochinhphu.vn.
The Prime Minister directed the HCMC government to remove impediments to the project, ensure progress is in line with the plan and allocate resources to complete unfinished components in case the project falls behind the deadline.

The city was also instructed to review the funding request and complete the paperwork related to the negotiation and signing of the fourth loan agreement for the project.
Work on HCMC’s first subway line began in August 2012. It should be completed in six years. The line, which will run for 19.7 km between Ben Thanh and Suoi Tien theme park in Thu Duc City, has raised high hopes to open up a new form of mass transit and meet people’s need to move between the to travel downtown and the eastern gateway of the city , Local media reported.
