The famous goalkeeper of Vietnam national team, Dang Van Lam, has officially joined Cerezo Osaka of J1-League.
Van Lam will join Cerezo Osaka immediately after leaving from Muangthong United of Thai League. His contract with the Thai club is not expired yet, but Van Lam will terminate his contract and move to Japan. Muangthong United said that they will follow a legal firm against Vietnamese International player as they believed Van Lam has illegalized the contract between him and the club.
The Vietnamese player has skipped training with Thai club while his contract is still active. However, representative of Van Lam refused the victory potential of Muangthong United. He said that his client wanted to terminate the contract and move on since the club of Thai League has not given Van Lam the legal financial advantage that he deserved.
Recently, FIFA has approved International Transfer Certification (ITC) for Van Lam and he can temporarily join Cerezo Osaka from now. Nonetheless, his legal controversy with Muangthong United will be carried on.
Van Lam is the first Vietnamese player join a J1-League club. His other Vietnamese fellows Le Cong Vinh, Nguyen Tuan Anh, and Nguyen Cong Phuong have also played for Japanese clubs but they only played for J2-League clubs.
In his first interview, Van Lam shared that he is glad for joining new club.
Hello everyone! I am glad for joining such a big club like Cerezo Osaka and having a chance to play in such a big league like J-League.
It is a big moment of my career, and I believe that we will see more Vietnamese folks play abroad. Besides, I want to say thank you to my fans, supporters, and teammates. Thank you all!
Van Lam said.
Dang Van Lam has been a classy Vietnamese goalkeeper since he was playing for Hai Phong in V-League. After a successful campaign with Vietnam national team in AFF Cup 2018 and Asian Cup 2019, Van Lam joined Muangthong United in 2019 and played for this Thai club in about one season.
His controversy with Muangthong has not intercepted his bargain with Osaka.
Hopefully, with this move, Van Lam will develop even stronger and remains to be the irreplaceable option for Vietnam national team.
