Given the recent completion of AI related technologies, its use in education is helping to transform the future of this industry in all countries. The recent establishment of ChatGPT was a major milestone in several educational forums around the world, including Vietnam.
The Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) met yesterday to discuss how ChatGPT can be used in education, as well as the benefits and challenges it presents.
Apparently, as MoET Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son said, the function of a teacher has increasingly shifted from knowledge provider to knowledge seeker advisor due to this modern technology and the like.
“It is our responsibility to design viable policies to promote and monitor ChatGPT to take advantage of its useful features and AI technologies in general, while actively minimizing their negative effects,” said the deputy minister.

Teachers must immediately adapt to the circumstances by studying such technologies to take advantage of them, as AI-related technologies profoundly and extensively change every part of the education sector, from curriculum creation to teaching techniques and organizations to the ways of access and acquire knowledge.
The MoET will also investigate the matter extensively and propose policy changes in the near future.
Due to its enormous potential to look up information quickly, several meeting participants expressed their opinion that we can consider ChatGPT a useful tool in the teaching-learning process.
According to Assoc. prof. Dr. Ta Hai Tung, director of the Information and Communications Technology School (Hanoi University of Science and Technology), the idea of banning the use of ChatGPT over concerns about students completing their assignments using the program is completely absurd. Rather than imposing such an arbitrary restriction, teachers could serve as a guide to help their students make good use of ChatGPT to speed up assignment completion.
prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University – Hanoi) stated that the birth of such an innovative tool gives instructors the chance to update their teaching techniques so that they are less theoretical in order to support the growth of their students’ competence and morale.
“State-of-the-art technology should not be feared, but rather researched and mastered. It is clear that new technology such as ChatGPT can cause concern at first. However, we need to use it properly to upgrade working or learning approaches at some point. Teachers, according to Dr. Tuan should move from providing knowledge to guiding and directing students in accessing and gathering valuable knowledge to study.
