EcoVadis, the world’s most trusted provider of corporate sustainability ratings, for the third year in a row. In addition to the platinum certification, EcoVadis also ranked Zuellig Pharma as a leader in carbon management, demonstrating its best-in-class greenhouse gas (GHG) management system and strong decarbonization ambition with scientifically approved targets. .
In 2023, Zuellig Pharma received an overall EcoVadis score of 82, compared to a global and Asian average of 48 and 33 points respectively. Zuellig Pharma’s work on human rights and sustainable sourcing, as well as its work to reduce carbon emissions, has been particularly recognized by EcoVadis, placing it among the top 1% of organizations assessed.
Since 2020, Zuellig Pharma has achieved a significant improvement in its overall EcoVadis score with a total increase of 18 points, while other organizations have increased their scores by an average of 1.7 points over the same duration. The company has been consistently rated above industry standards in all four pillars, namely environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.

As part of its efforts to prioritize human rights and sustainable procurement, the company launched an “Elevating Worker Voice” pilot program in 2022, to monitor and address any labor risks in its chain of supply in three markets, including Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. Leveraging its partnership with The Mekong Club, a non-profit organization specializing in detecting and eliminating modern slavery in Asia, a survey was conducted to understand the conditions faced by workers hired by suppliers from Zuellig Pharma. Using the survey results, debriefings were conducted with providers alongside collaborative efforts to address practice gaps. This year, Zuellig Pharma plans to establish regional guidelines for including worker surveys as part of supplier audits and implement the program at sites across the region.
In 2022, the company also managed to reduce its overall greenhouse gas emissions by 31% and made progress against its science-based targets through initiatives such as greening its fleets and facilities, migration of regional services to cloud-based data centers and vendor partnerships to drive emissions and waste reduction. The introduction of such initiatives has enabled Zuellig Pharma to readjust its operations to be more energy efficient and successfully reduce emissions from its material value chain and its overall carbon footprint.
Earlier this year, Zuellig Pharma announced its “A-” rating for supplier engagement on the Global Carbon Emissions Disclosure Platform.
CDP, making it the first and only company in the world in its business group to receive this recognition. The company also received a “B” rating for climate change. CDP is a non-profit charitable organization that manages the global disclosure system for investors, businesses, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impact.
