Geneva,, July 10, 2025 / Prnewswire / – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a main world supplier of integrated information and communication technology solutions, stood out for many proposals with its “signal reward program” implemented in AfricaWinning the WSIS champion prize (project champion) during the World Summit on the Information Summit on the Information Summit (WSIS) award ceremony. In particular, ZTE was the only Chinese company to receive this prestigious honor in the field of cultural diversity of ICT.
This distinction recognizes not only ZTE’s continuous innovation in the digital technology sector, but also affirms its role of comparative analysis and its influence of industry in the advancement of global digital inclusion and sustainable development.
The WSIS is co-organized by authority organizations, in particular the International Telecommunications Union (IUT), the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). It aims to promote the sustainable development of the World Information Society through information and communication technologies (ICT). The WSIS Champion’s Prize, as a significant distinction of the summit, makes several rigorous selection cycles, including online journals and expert opinions, to choose current achievements from thousands of projects submitted. These projects represent best practices worldwide in updating ICT to improve people’s livelihoods.
ZTE’s “Reach signal program”, focused on the basic concepts of “ultra-fast connectivity, green energy and inclusive sharing”, notes the challenge of a low digital infrastructure in the distant areas of Africa By providing an end solution, from the deployment of the basic station to terminal services. The project team has innovatively combined the technology of modular basic stations with solar energy systems to develop ecosite basic stations, capable of being deployed in only seven days. These basic stations have ZTE self-proclaimed UBR tri-band technology, reducing network coverage costs by 70% and increasing the effectiveness of network expansion by 60% thanks to an upgrade design in a step.
In combination with the ecoenergy solution, the program provides a stable and reliable green energy supply for remote regions, by further optimizing energy consumption with the Inergy management software. This reduces operating costs and improves the sustainability of the system. In practical application in LiberiaThe project team successfully deployed 128 basic stations within three months, providing stable mobile communication services to more than 580,000 rural users.
Remarkably, the “Reach signal program” is concentrated not only on the popularization of digital technology, but also actively promotes cultural diversity. By providing stable and reliable digital connectivity to distant areas of AfricaThe program allows local communities to better integrate into the global information society, promotes exchanges and understanding between different cultures, and promotes the development of cultural diversity through the continent.
During the high -level event of WSIS + 20 at the top, Summer ChenVice-president of the ZTE, also participated in the powerful partner session2Connect (P2C). She underlined ZTE’s pride to be among the first P2C champions recognized by the ITU for its leadership in the conduct of global digitization efforts.
