NEW YORK,, March 8, 2025 / Prnewswire / – The United Nations Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) is proud to announce that the Légende du Entertainment Whoopi Goldberg will serve as a world boss of WPHF. An emblematic actor, producer and activist, the commitment of several decades of Whoopi to social justice, women’s rights and humanitarian causes makes her a natural champion of the WPHF mission to support women to constitute peace in conflicts and countries affected by the crisis in the world.
One of the few artists to reach the status of Egot – who defeated an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony – the influence of Goldberg extends far beyond the entertainment industry. She has always used her platform to defend the causes of this equality and this justice, the cornerstone of peace.
“I am proud to join the WPHF as a world boss and to stand alongside women who fight every day to create a world where peace and gender equality are the norm, no exception”, “ said Whoopi Goldberg. “Women supported by WPHF are the unknown heroes of our time – they fight for their lives, their families and their countries in the most difficult circumstances. I am honored to be part of their trip, and I urge others to stand with us.”
The WPHF is the unique offer of the United Nations through a partnership with civil society to invest directly in local leaders and their communities. Women like Halyna Skipálska UkraineWho, in the wake of war, launched a virtual platform offering vital resources for displaced women and survivors of gender-based violence. Or Pascale Solageswhose organization Haiti Provides safe houses and trauma advice to women and girls who escape the violence of gangs. Or Alloussh from SandraA Syrian journalist, refugee and human rights defender who uses media and plea power to amplify the voices of migrant and refugee women and girls. The return on investment in women in conflicts has been proven repeatedly–When women are engaged in peace processes, peace is sustainable and sustainable.
So why don’t women get the support and attention they deserve yet? This is what WPHF works to change every day. Since 2016, the fund has supported more than 1,450 local women’s organizations in 46 countries and has called on the world to join this world movement.
“Whoopi Goldberg is a legend. We are honored to have it as a new world boss of WPHF”, ” said Tonni Brodber, head of the WPHF secretariat. “From the Purple color, Sister Act and its incredible comic contribution to the All Women’s sports network, Whoopi has always enlightened its light on the investment in the extraordinary which resides within women and men. We are impatient to associate ourselves with Whoopi to amplify the impact of women and our collective investment in peace.”
