The HCMC tourism industry hopes to attract 3.5 million international visitors and 25 million domestic travelers this year.
At a recent conference on the implementation of key tourism tasks, a representative of the HCM City Department of Tourism said the recovery plan will be implemented with an emphasis on safety, Vietnam News Agency reported.
When the pandemic is effectively fought, the city aims to welcome 3.5 million international tourists.
Meanwhile, the city expects to attract 25 million arrivals with domestic tourists if the pandemic situation is well under control and 18 million if unexpected events occur.

To achieve this goal, Nguyễn Thị Ánh Hoa, director of the HCM City Department of Tourism, said the sector should strive for effective management and create favorable conditions for a healthy competitive environment for business and the tourism community.
New attractive tourism products that are important for the unique charm of the city, further application of information technology in the promotion of tourism, better cooperation in the development of tourism inside and outside the country and more quality staff are the keywords in 2022.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Đoàn Văn Việt appreciated the city’s recent activities to recover and develop the tourism sector during the difficult period.
Phan Thị Thắng, vice-chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee, said the city has always been proactive in the prevention and control of pandemic and has made effective use of all resources from business, hotel system to accommodation facilities.
The city had taken the initiative to become a bright spot in the recovery and development of tourism in Vietnam.

In the future, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism expected the HCMC tourism industry to maintain its position, overcome existing challenges and contribute to the growth of the industry.
It would be critical for the city to carry out projects in digital transformation, technology application, smart tourism development and high-quality human resource training, which would ultimately make practical contributions to its development, according to Vietnam News Agency.
