Aneta Nguyen, the wife of Vietnamese-Czech goalkeeper Filip Nguyen, said it was a wonderful thing to live in Vietnam despite struggling with the hot weather.
Aneta and her son just moved to Vietnam on August 3 to live with her husband Filip, who signed with Cong An Ha Noi (CAHN) in June. A few days later, she took her son to watch Filip play in a V. League game against Hanoi FC. Filip performed well and contributed to his side’s 2-1 victory.
“It’s my first time watching a V. League game at the stadium. The atmosphere is amazing,” Aneta said. “When I was still in the Czech Republic and he was in Vietnam, we used Facetime a lot. Everything [about the new change] was not too difficult for me, and moving to Vietnam to live with my husband is a wonderful thing for me.”
Aneta added that the biggest challenge for her living in Vietnam is the hot weather.
“Weather is the most difficult factor when we moved to Vietnam. To be honest, it’s too hot here for us,” she said.
Like Filip, Aneta also has a Vietnamese father and a Czech mother. The two first met in 2016 at the gym and started dating soon after. They got engaged in late 2019 and had a son a year later. The couple married in August 2021.
In his introduction to the new club on June 30, Filip said one of the reasons he decided to return to Vietnam was for his son to reconnect with his roots.
“Half of me is Vietnamese. I came back to Vietnam because of my family. My father is Vietnamese. I want my son to reconnect with my origin. I think my decision to come back here is really good for my family and my career as a footballer.”
Filip graduated from Sparta Prague’s youth football academy and played for the club before joining other national clubs like Bydzov, Vlasim, Slova Liberec and Slovacko.
He was voted the best goalkeeper in the Czech Premier League in the 2018-19 season.
He was previously called up for the Czech Republic national team but didn’t get a chance to play and therefore remains eligible to play for Vietnam.
