In the first 8 months of 2022, the amount of American coffee imported from Vietnam was more than 96,000 tons, worth USD 227.46 million, an increase of 5.2% in volume and 35.9% in value from the same period last year.
Vietnam’s coffee market share of total US imports increased from 6.27% in the first eight months of 2021 to 6.45% in the first eight months of 2022. Vietnam became the third largest coffee supplier to the US, after Brazil and Colombia.
At the beginning of October 2022, according to information from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, coffee prices in the world market were under pressure to fall, causing the price of robusta coffee in the domestic market to fall in line with world prices. On October 8, the price of robusta coffee in Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Dak Nong provinces fell to 46,700 – 46,800 VND/kg; in Lam Dong province was stable at 46,400 VND/kg.
According to the General Department of Customs, Vietnamese coffee exports decreased by 10.3% in volume in September 2022, but increased in value by 4.9% in the same period in 2021.
In September 2022, Vietnam exported more than 92,000 tons of coffee, worth more than USD 226 million. In the first 9 months of 2022, Vietnam’s coffee exports reached about 1.34 million tons, worth USD 3.06 billion, an increase of 13.1% in volume and 37% in value over the same period last year. .
Overall, the average export price of Vietnamese coffee reached USD 2,283 per ton in the first nine months of 2022, an increase of 21.2% over the same period in 2021. Turning to the market, September 2022 over the same period last year. The volume of coffee exported to many key markets fell sharply, such as Germany, Belgium, USA, Philippines and coffee exports to Italy, Japan, Spain and UK increased.
