Verizon and other giant cable providers still send robocalls that could be pretty annoying for many consumers. However, the so-called Stir/Shaken tech will soon prevent this from happening.

FCC (Federal Communications Commission) now requires all major voice service providers in the United States to implement its innovation. As of the moment, almost millions of U.S. residents are affected by these robocalls.
Some of them complained that they are afraid since the unknown numbers contacting them could belong to illegal robocallers. On the other hand, some security experts claimed that many of these robocalls are bogus or scams.

These malicious activities include fake expiring car warranty calls, non-existent bank offerings, interest-rate discount scams, as well as health-related scams. FCC confirmed that this is currently the number one complaint of cable consumers.
Verizon and Other Voice Providers Must Implement Stir/Shaken
According to CNET’s latest report, the new Stir/Shaken technology doesn’t only apply to Verizon. Based on FCC’s statement, every cable provider in the U.S. should apply the new technology.

This means that AT&T, as well as T-Mobile, needs to follow the new rule. FCC also announced that they only have until June 30 to implement Stir/Shaken. On the other hand, FCC explained that Stir/Shaken take is launched because more than 22 billion robocalls were recorded in the first five months of 2021.
On the other hand, the communication agency also claimed that this number could also increase to more than 52 billion by the end of the year. The robocall issue is currently a serious matter since many tech firms and other organizations are using this technology to communicate important information to the public.

Since robocall is an important mode of communication, many hackers and other online criminals are using it to fool people into their malicious activities easily.
Preventing Robocalls
Since the new technology is still a few days ahead, there are some methods you can do to prevent robocalls yourself. USA Today reported that one of the most efficient tricks is not answering the call from unknown contact.
If you are really curious to know who is calling you, the best thing you can do is text the number first and ask for their identity. On the other hand, you can also use your device’s “Silence Unknown Callers” feature.
This tool is currently available in iOS and Android handsets. To do this, you must go to your Settings and then click the “Phone” option. The “Silence Unknown Callers” should appear in that tab.
