    SINGAPORE – Media OutReach – October 3, 2023 – UOB is the first bank in Singapore to trial Microsoft 365 Copilot, a productivity tool based on generative artificial intelligence (generative AI).

    Under the Microsoft 365 Copilot Early Access Program (EAP), UOB will begin using Microsoft 365 Copilot in October 2023. 300 employees across several frontline and back-end business functions of the bank will gradually gain access to Microsoft’s new AI innovation. Staff working in functions such as branch offices, customer service, technology and operations will be able to use Microsoft 365 Copilot to improve productivity, accessibility and collaboration in a secure way.

With this, we are proud to be among the first banks in ASEAN to deploy Microsoft 365 Copilot to our employees. productivity improvements, we hope this tool can spark creativity and inspire innovation among employees, thereby further enhancing our customers’ banking experience,” said Mr. Lawrence Goh, Chief Operating Officer and Head of Group Infrastructure Platform Services, Group Technology and Operations, UOB. .

    Microsoft 365 Co-Pilot combines the power of large language models with business data from users’ calendars, emails, discussion documents, meetings and more, as well as Microsoft 365 apps like
    Outlook,
    Word,
    power point and Teams to turn words into a productivity tool powered by generative AI.

    Participating UOB employees can access Microsoft 365 Copilot for one year after starting EAP, during which they will receive support from a global center of excellence and the Microsoft Customer Success team. Workshops are also offered to them to ensure a smooth and smooth adoption and onboarding process.

    UOB employees can expect to benefit from Microsoft 365 Copilot in several ways:

    • Increase productivity and efficiency: With Microsoft 365 Copilot, employees can transform the way they work, whether effortlessly summarizing long documents and discussion threads in Outlook, turning raw data into visualizations in Excel, or providing summaries of concise meetings on Teams. This revolutionary automation frees up valuable employee time, allowing them to unleash their creativity and focus on higher-impact tasks.
    • Improve accessibility to relevant information: With Microsoft 365 Copilot, employees will have the ability to locate and reference information within the Bank in a simple and convenient way. It can intelligently identify and retrieve relevant data based on the context of the email or documents employees are working on. This would foster seamless collaboration between employees across different functions, allowing them to build on each other’s work more easily and meaningfully.
    • Improve content quality and deliver impactful messages: By equipping employees with Microsoft 365 Copilot, they can transform existing documents into engaging presentations, make content more concise, and suggest an appropriate tone of voice for messages. This will enable the Bank to maintain a consistent and compelling voice in its marketing materials and responses to customers.

    UOB understands the potential of integrating generative AI into the bank’s daily operations. The Microsoft 365 Copilot EAP will enable the Bank to explore and guide employees through a new way of working with AI, creating active employee feedback loops that contribute to a broader GenAI strategy for the whole form the bank. This is part of UOB’s long-term plans to explore and adopt GenAI technology to achieve meaningful and sustainable business outcomes that can benefit employees and customers, and in line with the use of AI in a responsible.
