KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, November 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Prepare to be amazed by the official launch of the highly anticipated exhibition “Hong Kong Art Toy Story 2025@Kuala Lumpur” at TRX in Kuala Lumpur! Organized by the Innovative Entrepreneur Association (IEA) and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, this fascinating showcase immerses visitors into the dynamic and creative world of Hong Kong’s original artistic toy culture.

A ceremony took place today to mark the opening of the exhibition. It was chaired by Ms. Christine Chie, Head (Architecture, Printing, Publishing and Promotion) of Culture and Creative Industries Development Agency, Ms. Libera Cheng, Director General of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Jakarta, Ms. Cherrie Chong, President of IEA, Mr. Johnson Chiang, Curator of “Hong Kong Art Toy Story 2025@Kuala Lumpur”. They were joined by Hong Kong original art toy creators namely b.wing, Bee Wong, Foon Wong, Winson Ma, Felix Ip, Jeffery Yau, Leo Pak, Nicolas Lesaffre, Steven Choi and Tony Leung.

From November 7 to 16, 2025, art toy enthusiasts and collectors will witness an exceptional exhibition of over 450 unique creations by 12 of Hong Kong’s most groundbreaking original art toy designers, including museum-quality and auction-worthy pieces. Beyond the diversity of these designers’ stunning works, the exhibition also features brand-new cross-industry pieces, in which six of the featured Hong Kong designers have specially designed original art toys featuring six elements of Hong Kong’s intangible cultural heritage, showcasing the limitless possibilities of creative fusion. The six elements of Hong Kong’s intangible cultural heritage featured in these crossover art toys are Tai Chi Chuan, Herbal Tea, Airplane Olive, Seal Carving Technique, Blown Sugar Technique, and Piu Sik (Floating Colors) Making Technique. As the first large-scale exhibition of original Hong Kong art toys in Kuala Lumpur, this landmark event presents an unforgettable experience for fans and collectors, as well as the public, not only from Malaysia, but also from all ASEAN countries.

The exhibition is organized into distinct zones, showcasing the works of six established and six emerging Hong Kong original artistic toy designers, representing different eras of the industry’s evolution. Additionally, six exclusive cross-sector pieces, each created by a participating designer for a selected element of Hong Kong’s intangible cultural heritage, will make their world premiere at the event. Visitors can also explore a timeline tracing Hong Kong’s art toy history since the 1990s, showcasing iconic collectibles, some of which are museum-quality or auction-worthy masterpieces. Among these are rare pieces from pioneering Hong Kong original art toy brands that have shaped the scene.

An AR interactive photography zone is set up in the exhibition area, connecting virtual and real scenes, adding more interactive elements to the exhibition. Additionally, visitors can expect to be captivated by larger-than-life toy boxes, giant gashapons, life-size figurines, and more.

Art toy enthusiasts will have the opportunity to come into personal contact with some of the participating Hong Kong designers during special events held on weekends during the exhibition period. Through live discussions, autograph signings and hands-on demonstrations from Hong Kong designers, attendees will receive a unique behind-the-scenes look at the creators’ artistic journey.

“The art toy industry has grown exponentially in ASEAN countries, as we can see since our first overseas exhibition of original art toys from Hong Kong to Bangkok in 2022,” said Ms. Cherrie Chong, President of the IEA. “This year, we are delighted to welcome 12 of Hong Kong’s most exceptional designers to Kuala Lumpur. Our goal is to deepen the understanding and appreciation of the creative industries between the two regions, paving the way for future artistic collaborations and exchanges.

Made possible through the sponsorship of CCIDA, with the support of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Jakarta and valued partners, the “Hong Kong Art Toy Story 2025@Kuala Lumpur” is a crucial tribute to Hong Kong’s legendary art toy culture. Visitors can immerse themselves in a realm where creativity knows no bounds, where every piece tells a story.

“We are delighted to showcase Hong Kong’s vibrant and dynamic art toy culture in Malaysia through this exhibition,” said Mr. Johnson Chiang, curator of the exhibition and former president of the Society of Hong Kong Illustrators. “Hong Kong has never lacked excellent illustrators, designers, art toy makers and comic artists. In fact, they produced many classic pieces that swept the world.
