The transport sector has just released a program of action on the transition to green energy, reducing carbon and methane emissions to net greenhouse gas emissions to “zero” by 2050. The immediate target is that by 2025, 100% of buses will be replaced by new investments using electricity and green energy.

With regard to the roadmap for the transformation of green energy in the period 2022-2030, the road objective is to promote the production, assembly, import and use of electric motorized road vehicles; extend mixing, use 100% E5 gasoline for motor vehicles on the road.
In addition, the development of charging infrastructure to meet the needs of people and businesses; encourage the conversion of new and existing bus stations and rest areas to green criteria.
For railways, the strategy sets the target to test the use of electric and green energy railway vehicles on existing railway lines.
For inland shipping, the strategy encourages investments in building, importing and converting fossil fuel inland shipping vehicles to the use of electricity and green energy.
In addition, researching and developing criteria for green ports and green transport routes serves as a basis for formulating mechanisms and policies to encourage new investment in green inland ports; pilot application in some inland ports; research and turn a number of waterways into green transport routes.
For urban transport, the strategy aims to replace 100% of buses from 2025 and invest in new electricity and green energy. The rate of public passenger transport in Hanoi reaches 45-50%, Ho Chi Minh City reaches 25%, Da Nang reaches 25-35%, Can Tho reaches 20%, Hai Phong reaches 10-15%, class 1 cities reach at least 5 %.
By 2030, the share of vehicles using electricity and green energy will be at least 50%; 100% replacement taxi, new investment on electricity, green electricity.
By 2050, 100% of buses and taxis will use electricity and green energy. The share of public passenger transport in special cities and grade 1 cities will be at least 40% and 10% respectively.
