For a limited time only, KFC is calling on all of its Crispy Fried fans to get a free KFC bucket hat with every Porjai Bucket menu purchase. The result: a 285% increase in brand engagement, with an unprecedented social media explosion on Google and TikTok, while also delivering family happiness and fun.
Thousands of customers have posted “hatfies” and videos of themselves wearing KFC’s iconic red and white bucket hats, offering creative and quirky ways to style their hats to match their outfits.
“The response has been amazing,” says Sakechai Choomuenwai, general manager of KFC Thailand. “From day one of launch, our customers wasted no time wearing their hats at school and in the office, on the streets, on planes and through their social media; it was a joy to see the true effect of our KFC buckets now arriving on life as a lifestyle heirloom,” adds Choomuenwai.
The promotion was designed to create brand love with an iconic KFC asset, and thus deliver its famous premium buckets overflowing with hot, crispy, hand-fried chicken pieces; the kind of buckets Thais have loved and expected from their colonel’s co-op since 1952. What was not expected, however, was the country’s zealous response to KFC’s striped bucket hat giveaway, making some made a viral phenomenon of brand love and appreciation.
“It’s a viral sensation that has definitely left its mark on our brand history,” says Choomuenwai, “and it affirms for us that all it takes to be happy is a bucket of crispy goodness. , a secret recipe and a matching hat,” Choomuenwai finished.
While most Thais got their fair share of bucketfuls, some may have missed their chance to show off their KFC drip.
