Tap & Go among first to participate in Hong Kong-Thailand cross-border retail payment service

HKT (SEHK: 6823) Under HKT Payment Limited, the Tap & Go¹ The mobile wallet supports the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s FPS x PromptPay QR payment service as one of the first digital wallets to participate in the link between Hong Kong’s FPS and Thailand’s PromptPay, launching a series of offers. From December 4, 2023, Tap & Go users will be able to enjoy the new overseas payment experience while local merchants will be able to accept PromptPay payments.² Thai tourists via FPS.

Foreign exchange processing fees waived

PromptPay in Thailand is similar to FPS in Hong Kong: both are easy to use. Designated Tap & Go Users³ can simply scan FPS x PromptPay QR codes using their Tap & Go mobile wallets to make FPS payments at over 8 million merchants supporting PromptPay in Thailand, saving not only a trip to convert dollars from Hong Kong to Thai Baht, but also the corresponding processing fees. Tap & Go’s pay-as-you-go design and app-to-app recharge features⁴ giving users flexible control over their spending and the ability to easily top up their e-wallet.



Time-limited spending discounts

From December 4, 2023 to January 31, 2024 (both dates inclusive, “Promotion Period”), eligible users can earn up to HK$40 off stored value.⁵ by making a total of six transactions with a cumulative spend of HK$300 or more (and a minimum of HK$50 spent in each transaction), receive a stored value discount of HK$25 for the first HK$50 spent by scanning the FPS x PromptPay QR code using Tap & Go’s “Scan to Pay” feature at merchants that accept PromptPay in Thailand. By taking advantage of deals while spending, users can get the most out of their trips.

Free data roaming pass in Thailand

From now until January 31, 2024, 1O1O and csl customers as well as eligible Tap & Go users⁷ can use a data pass while roaming in Thailand^8,9,10 free in 1O1O Centers or CSL stores. The roaming data pass offers 24 hours of roaming data, which customers can enjoy upon arrival by simply turning on their mobile phone without changing SIM cards for added convenience.
