The above content has just been replied by the Ministry of Transport to voters in Ho Chi Minh City regarding the expansion of Tan Son Nhat airport.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the project for the construction of the T3 passenger terminal and synchronous technical infrastructure works (high-rise parking garage, telescopic bridge system…) of Tan Son Nhat airport is currently being carried out by the Port Corporation Aviation of Vietnam (ACV ) is organizing the performance.
According to the design of the T3 terminal with a size of about 20 million passengers/year, the total investment of the station and the synchronous ancillary works is about 10,990 billion VND, coming from the capital of ACV, without using capital from the state budget.

Construction is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2022 and be completed and commissioned in 2024. Upon completion of the T3 terminal and combination with terminals such as T1 and T2, the total designed capacity of Tan Son Nhat Airport will increase to 50 million passengers/year.
The project has not yet started construction due to problems with the transfer of defense land.
In early July, in a meeting with ministries, sectors and municipalities, the prime minister asked for the progress of projects to increase the capacity of Tan Son Nhat airport to be drastically accelerated, starting the construction of the T3 passenger terminal project and other facilities. The traffic project to connect to the station in the third quarter of 2022 and by September 2024 should complete this station.
After that, the government approved the policy of the Ministry of Defense to transfer about 27.85 hectares of defense land to the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City for management to carry out the T3 passenger terminal project.
