Starlink has achieved 69,420 simultaneous users and has exceeded it last night, on Thursday, June 24, as CEO Elon Musk announced it on his social media platform on Twitter.
Now, these numbers sound like they came from memes, and indeed these are popular comedic numbers, but the achievement of SpaceX’s Starlink is legitimate in that it came close to the 70,000 user threshold. Additionally, Musk revealed that 72 orbital planes would activate by August on a wider scale, but global coverage, including the polar regions, would take time.

Starlink CEO Elon Musk has achieved a massive milestone with the company, announced via his Twitter account (@elonmusk). He said that simultaneous global users have reached and exceeded 69,420, which is a massive one as it nears 100,000 despite being on early release or beta stages for some.

Musk and the internet satellite company has set an important strategical threshold for the company’s user base and has made a meme reference out of it, which now gathered massive attention. More importantly, this shows how powerful Starlink can be, especially as even in the early stages, people have been intent on using the internet service, which promises great speeds.
Additionally, the previous missions from SpaceX have given Starlink more satellites on its plate, effectively empowering more of the internet service with its coverage. However, that is not yet over as the company aims for global coverage, which needs more satellite, and more launches are lined up for this plan.

Starlink Global Coverage

As added by Elon Musk, the company already has orbital planes that have been ready and awaiting its utilization in the coming two months, which would improve global coverage. By August, Musk and Starlink would launch 72 orbital planes encompassing the regions where it would provide its services.
However, this would not include the polar regions yet, and for that to happen, Starlink would need to further its coverage to add more satellites and orbital planes to manage.
If this pushes through, it would make its service more accessible to remote areas and help people in need of a stable internet connection, even in the hard-to-reach areas.
Starlink Expansion Soon
The important threshold of 69,420 has marked a new milestone for Starlink, and it was more than a meme for Elon Musk because it brings something that signifies that the company is growing.
Additionally, Musk meant that an expansion is coming, especially as it nears its planned period of stepping up as a global service soon enough. Currently, people are in beta mode, or limited release versions as Starlink’s services are not yet available for the general public to use and experience.
