The exhibition selects more than 30 oral histories of former Jewish refugees in Shanghai during World War II and their descendants, allowing the public to experience the deep friendship between Chinese and Jewish people. The exhibition also presents nearly 30 reproductions of precious cultural relics and historical documents and more than 200 documentary photos and videos.
Exhibits include boat tickets to flee Europe, the marriage certificate with Chinese characteristics, the report card from Kadoorie School in Shanghai, the portrait of a Shanghai grandmother in memory of Jewish refugees, as well as than the documentary film “White Green Black”. by Jewish artist. These articles and oral histories complement each other, vividly presenting the difficult life of Jewish refugees in Shanghai in the 1930s and 1940s from multiple perspectives.

The exhibition was organized by the Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Shanghai Fosun Public Welfare Foundation, and co-organized by the Shanghai Jewish Refugee Museum.
During the opening ceremony, the Shanghai Jewish Refugee Museum received a special certificate of honor from New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
Huang Ping, Chinese consul general in New York, and Jing Ying, vice president of the Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, delivered speeches at the expo.
A brand new English version of the Shanghai city image film “Shanghai Let’s Meet” was also released.
