Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S23 series, debuted a new feature hitherto unknown to many that helps extend battery life and prevent heating while plugged in. This is done by charging the smartphone and bypassing the battery and runs on direct charging power through the USB-C charger.
This is similar to the removable battery of previous generations, where users can disconnect their power cells from their devices and run on direct power, such as computers, laptops, televisions, and the like.

The new Galaxy S23 battery bypass feature on the smartphone was first spotted by NL Tech, a Malaysia-based YouTube technology channel, claiming that it was not disclosed by Samsung. This is a hidden feature in the Galaxy S23 series, preventing the battery from charging when it reaches 20 percent until users turn it off.
This feature falls under the company’s Game Booster system and would be accessible by running a registered or added game to the app.
If someone’s smartphone is about 10 percent and wants to charge it, the system will top off the battery to 20 percent and stop running on direct power when launching the feature or games.
The bypass battery feature provides power directly to the board necessary for the device to function, a feature that reduces the heat generated by a charging battery during use and can shorten battery life to prevent overcharging.

According to 9to5 Google, this feature is located under the Game Booster settings and “Pause USB Power Delivery,” which users can enable or disable.
However, it may not be available to everyone as the report claimed it wasn’t available on the S23 Ultra, which they own. Samsung’s S23 series has a non-removable battery.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Features
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S23 series to the world earlier this February at its latest Unpacked event, which allowed the public to showcase its latest flagship smartphone series. The S23 was a treat for fans and enthusiasts as it brought several iconic features and upgrades to the device including the camera, UI, display and more.
The device resembles the design of the Galaxy S22, but one of the most iconic changes is the screen, which has 30 percent flatter edges to adequately accommodate S-Pen use.
The South Korean tech giant also put interesting software and programs on the device, especially the editing system with Adobe Lightroom as native and official editing tool.
The Galaxy S23 series has not skimped on features despite making subtle changes to the smartphone to bring the latest technology to the world. Now gamers get the chance to thrive in this mobile device where they don’t have to worry about countless hours of gaming and damaging their batteries with this new bypass feature.
