The Redmi 9 Power debuted in India in December of last year and was almost immediately faced with a bit of confusion, as it oddly seemed to encroach on the company’s Poco M3 market share in an obvious way. The Redmi 9 Power is pretty much a renowned Redmi Note 9 4G, with an additional 2MP macro camera added to the mix. Still, that made it essentially identical in specs to the popular Poco M3 and even a bit cheaper in its base level at some retailers, while still offering an extra 8MP ultra-wide snapper.

Redmi 9 Power has four color options
This is admittedly a bit of a strange situation, but things could get even stranger as according to a reputable insider source, Xiaomi is apparently looking to introduce a 6GB RAM variant of the Redmi 9 Power to the Indian market. Reduce even further the gap between it and the Poco M3, since the latter already has 6 GB modifications. For the Redmi 9 Power, however, 6 GB will only be available alongside 128 GB of storage, this which makes it the highest tier Redmi 9 Power, with an alleged retail price of INR 12,999 ($ 180). That would actually make it a bit more expensive than the 6GB / 128GB variant of the Poco M3, however. At least at MSRP, which raises practical questions. Especially seeing how the Redmi 9 Power’s particular 8MP ultra-wide snapper isn’t such a big draw to deserve such an upsell on the Poco M3.
Just for reference, the Redmi 9 Power currently starts at INR 10,999 ($ 150) for the 4GB / 64GB and goes up to INR 11,999 ($ 165) for the 4GB / 128GB. It should be noted that the most large storage chip is of the faster UFS 2.2 variety, instead of UFS 2.1. Other notable specs of the Redmi 9 Power include a 6.53-inch FullHD + LCD display, Snapdragon 662 chipset, 48MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide, two additional 2MP snappers, and an 8MP selfie. The stereo speakers are also a notable part of the mix, as is the large 6000mAh, capable of charging at 18W and delivering power via reverse charging at 2.5W.
