Academia Sinica is Taiwan’s leading research institution. Its TIGP offers 13 interdisciplinary programs ranging from mathematical and physical sciences, life sciences to humanities and social sciences. The all-English Ph.D. The program closely cooperates with major universities in Taiwan and provides top-quality science education courses. It aims to attract the best talents from around the world with the ambition to develop personally and professionally.
TIGP offers competitive financial support to its students. All admitted students receive a monthly stipend of 40,000 NTD (approximately 1,200 USD) for the first year. For those who obtain good results, this allowance will be extended to the 2nd and 3rd years. In subsequent years, financial support will come from the thesis director. Additionally, full-time TIGP doctoral students or students who have passed their qualifying exams with distinction can apply for the TIGP Research Performance Fellowship. Scholars can receive an additional NTD 6,000 per month for one year.
Thanks to Academia Sinica’s substantial connections with premier institutions around the world, TIGP can arrange for students to visit and conduct research in renowned laboratories around the world. The annual TIGP Travel Scholarship Award encourages students to participate in important global symposia. Other opportunities for international exposure include attending seminars abroad, undertaking short-term research projects abroad, and participating in international meetings such as the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings . Academia Sinica also invites distinguished scholars, entrepreneurship masters and Nobel Prize winners to visit the campus and share their unique stories of success in their respective fields.
To facilitate freshers’ faster adaptation to the local environment, TIGP offers free entry-level Mandarin classes and a fully furnished, convenient and affordable dormitory.
