SPOTLIGHTS Event Passive House Strategies for Sustainable Design The Philippines
Manila, Philippines,, September 16, 2025 / Prnewswire / – Passivhaus Philippines, a new non -profit national organization dedicated to the progression of the standard of the passive house, was officially launched during a webinar on energy construction solutions and little carbon for the very hot climate.
The online event has brought together architects, engineers and academics, reflecting an increasing interest in resilient and concerned construction of the climate The Philippines.
Jessica Grove-SmithPrincipal researcher and joint managing director of the passive house institute in GermanyOpen with an overview of the principles of the passive house in hot climates. She pointed out that insulation, ventilation and shade are essential to reduce energy consumption while guaranteeing comfort under tropical conditions.
Jordan ParnassSenior architect at new York-Circular based, presented Sri Lanka First certified passive house, showing how renovations can succeed in hot regions despite higher initial costs. He noted that energy savings can provide a return on investment within six years.
Dylan HammerConsultant in senior construction systems at Steven Winter Associates, discussed multi-unity and commercial projects, stressing the role of third-party certification to guarantee energy performance and long-term economies.
Norman GarciaExecutive director of Passivhaus Philippines, addressed practical adoption in the local context and highlighted the opportunities and challenges in the application of the passive house in the new construction and the renovations in The Philippineswhere high temperatures and humidity should be addressed.
The event underlined the educational and advocacy mission of the organization. Garcia has emphasized awareness of construction, training local professionals and students in events to develop expertise. While only a few certified passive house professionals exist in The Philippines Today, efforts are underway to extend training and certification opportunities.
The launch attracted the support of the community of Green Philippins buildings, notably the Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance, the Green Architecture Advocacy Philippines, the Philippine Green Building Council and the United Architects of the Chapter of the Philippines Makati Greenbelt.
Participants were invited to join Passivhaus Philippines as members to support education, plea and technical support, and to register for future events.
