During the nine-day event, the public was able to take a look inside the plane’s cabin, which was transformed into a small eye hospital equipped with a classroom, a operating room and a recovery room to treat patients and teach medical staff. in developed countries. This tour would also provide visitors with the opportunity to see for themselves how Orbis is transforming the lives of countless people living with eye diseases.
More than 400,000 training courses provided over the last 9 years
Orbis has implemented 63 vision-saving programs in 11 countries around the world through the Flying Eye Hospital. Over the last 9 years, it has provided more than 400,000 training sessions to healthcare professionals, distributed more than 500,000 pairs of corrective glasses to patients and carried out more than 28 million ophthalmological screenings. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic over the past three years, Flying Eye Hospital adapted by moving its training programs online to continue its vision-saving missions in different regions. Following its visit to Hong Kong, the Flying Eye Hospital will travel to Mongolia and Bangladesh, further strengthening its commitment to the fight against avoidable blindness.
