New specifications for embodied carbon harmonizes reports in the DC industry
Austin, Texas,, October 7, 2025 / Prnewswire / – The Open Calculation Project Foundation (OCP), in collaboration with the Imasons Climate (ICA) agreement, has revealed today theDriving carbon disclosure – OCP basic specificationWith contributions from Google, Meta, Microsoft, Schneider Electric and more, the first major work product of their alliance. This fundamental specification establishes a joint open framework for the declaration of data on the data center of the data center. This framework is designed to reduce duplication, align report practices and rationalize carbon disclosure for buyers and suppliers of the digital infrastructure ecosystem. Take advantage of the OCP community community and OCP ecosystems to have an impact on the supply chain of the data center and the imasons reach the community of end users, this work is a crucial step to meet one of the largest challenges in industry, creating sustainable and evolving digital infrastructure capable of meeting the requirements for AI and HPC of the data center at the edge.
This specification responds directly to the need for the coherent and transparent carbon report industry. By harmonizing the carbon disclosure requirements between stakeholders and eliminating duplicate data requests, specifications and the model provided simplify information sharing, accelerates the compliance of suppliers and allows buyers of clear carbon information that can be used to make a purchase decision. Standard taxonomy for carbon disclosure of suppliers related to materials and equipment of the data center offers the industry the possibility of creating new tools and using existing sustainability solutions with a common data structure to report the impact and the carbon methodology applied to derive the result.
“The major construction and expansion of the AI data center worldwide in the whole world has the potential to have an enormous impact on our environment. The OCP community is committed to ensuring that any potential negative impact is minimized. It is with this as a guidance factor that the OCP has established an alliance with the Imasons climate, and is very satisfied to see the framework of the compliance of the effort. Faithful and led by the community they need to make sustainability a central part of their product purchase and development decisions, “said George Tchaparian, CEO of Open Calte Project Foundation.
The longer -term objective of this effort between the open calculation project and the imasons is to be an industry catalyst to better strengthen capacity towards standardized carbon disclosure methodologies with increased rigor and more strict requirements for high -quality carbon measurement practices. The current basic specification is a step in this direction encouraging suppliers to disclose the carbon figure embodied for specific equipment of data center infrastructure (MEP – mechanical, electric, plumbing or information technology) or material flows, as well as underlying methodologies and data sources that have been used to calculate this carbon figure. The specification is deliberately flexible to allow a variety of carbon measurement tools, in particular the assessment of the life cycle (LCA), the TM65 methodology of CIBSE, the carbon footprint of the product or the economic modeling modeling. While the supplier community is strengthening capacity around carbon measurement, this specification will help supply organizations to discover and assess the types and quality of the empirical data that their suppliers use to quantify the impact of the carbon of their products.
“At Imasons, we believe that the Union of Industry around open and transparent standards is the only way to achieve significant progress on sustainability. This collaboration with the OCP is a major step to give our respective communities – suppliers to end users – clarity and confidence to make carbon decisions. Masons.
“The supply chain of the multi-furnishing data center is essential to the success of this effort. Compliant, ”said Rob Coyle, director of technical programs at Open Calped Project Foundation.
The OCP and Imasons communities will start to take advantage of the potential of the embodied carbon disclosure. Later this year, the disclosure of the carbon is ready™ The product recognition icon will begin to appear on the OCP market alongside products where carbon reports are available. This identification will help buyers easily recognize products with carbon reports that comply with the ECP carbon disclosure of carbon.
“This effort between the open calculation project and the Imasons climate agreement arrives at a time when the data center is undergoing a huge change, offering an ideal moment to introduce new purchasing behaviors. Taking a very important problem, the impact of the carbon of the data center equipment by providing a common format to signal carbon content with an eye to evolve a standard reporting method for a necessary card 1st step necessary for another stage of the first step.
About the Open Calculation Project Foundation
The Open Calculation Project (OCP) provides innovations on a scale and best hyperscaller practices to all, covering technological domains from the data center to the edge, and the technology of silicon technology, passing through systems, including the installations and services of the site. The international OCP community is made up of organizations and people from hyperscal and level 2 cloud data center operators, communications suppliers, roommate suppliers, various companies and technology suppliers. With the principles of opening, impact, efficiency, scale and sustainability, the OCP hires and educates thousands of engineers each year. In many projects and initiatives, the Foundation and the OCP community meet the market today and shape the future.

On the masons of the infrastructure
Mason Infrastructure (Imasons) is a professional non -profit association of individuals connected and authorized to build a more important digital future for all by uniting people who innovate to stimulate efficiency. Since its launch in 2016, the organization has brought together 6,000 people representing US + $ 1.5 T in infrastructure projects in 130 countries. Imasons provides an agnostic platform so that the members connect, develop and restore.
To date, Imasons has contributed to $ 1 million in scholarships of USD of scholarships, has launched member discussion groups and has opened regional and local chapters on four continents. In 2022, Imasons led the climate agreement, uniting leaders on the reduction of carbon for digital infrastructure.

About the Imasons climate agreement
The Imasons climate agreement (ICA) is a United Coalition on the decarbonization of digital infrastructure. Launched by Mason Infrastructure In 2022, the organization mobilized a community of key companies leading to the future of data centers, networks, cloud computing, energy, products and software. With a combined market capitalization of more than 6 T $ USD, their purchasing power will help accelerate the Net-Zero carbon industry. The ICA master organization includes Digital Realty, Google, Imasons, Meta, Microsoft and Schneider Electric. The members work on the adoption at the industry scale of an open standard to report carbon in materials, equipment and power, as shared in their maturity model published in February 2025.
