PARIS,, April 18, 2025 / Prnewswire / – UNESCO has officially designated the Geopark and Salma Geopark from Riyad Nord as part of its world network Geoparks (UNESCO), marking an important step for Saudi Arabia in the preservation of geo-literature and the promotion of sustainable development.
Recognition follows the rigorous selection criteria of UNESCO, which emphasize the complete management of Geopark. These criteria guarantee a balance between conservation, education and sustainable development while actively involving local communities. Doctor Khaled bin Abdullah al-AbdulkaderCEO of National Center for the development of vegetation coverage and the fight against desertification (NCVC)praised the announcement as a testimony of Saudi Arabia dedication to protecting its natural and historical heritage.
