MHESI Fair Events will promote Thailand’s innovative products and introduce them to the global market. 5.) Thailand aims to create a leading innovation museum within the ASEAN community. 6.) Each sub-province (Amphoe) must have at least one brand innovation of its own. 7.) Thailand’s space efforts will open up to new possibilities. 8.) MHESI and the STI ecosystem will strengthen and propel Thailand’s soft power to international recognitions. 9.) New funds and grants will be created to support and assist researchers and universities.
For each of the focal initiatives, there will be main strategic plans and lead agencies. The Future Thailand event brings together university presidents, government officials and MHESI leaders from across Thailand. All key players have demonstrated MHESI’s ability to advance Thailand’s future and will play a key role in managing the national higher education, science and innovation system. The minister is confident that the MHESI will significantly strengthen Thailand’s knowledge-driven system.
As such, to achieve the aforementioned policy goals, HE Supamas said that Thai university presidents would support the following 6 key programs:
1. Reform the curriculum system, particularly in high-demand fields, to allow students to graduate before the traditional 4-year course.
2. Reform the education and learning system to include and promote new skill sets essential to today’s workplace, such as AI, data science, cloud, coding and e-commerce .
3. Jointly establish new programs that enable exponential learning and entrepreneurial education, such as cooperative and work-integrated education or off-campus activities.
4. Jointly establish a “transcript” system to help students identify the skills acquired each year and promote the improvement and development of these skills.
5. Establish a National Credit Bank System, to promote and facilitate lifelong learning among Thai citizens.
6. Support and stimulate education, teaching, research, funding and the establishment of testing centers that promote the use of electric vehicles (EVs) and encourage the growth of Thailand’s electric vehicle industry. Higher education institutions are strongly recommended to use electric vehicles in their internal affairs, especially campus transit buses or public transportation.
