Beachside in one of Vietnam’s most attractive coastal destinations, Sol by Meliá Cam Ranh Bay is preparing to debut on the south-central coast in the fourth quarter of 2023.
Meliá Hotels International’s new ocean-inspired property is part of a wave of new hotel openings in Asia for the Spanish hotel group, the second-largest international hotel group in Vietnam.
“Our company has been at the forefront of leisure and bleisure hospitality in the Mediterranean and Caribbean for decades, so we look forward to contributing to the development of Asia-Pacific’s premier holiday destinations by providing the most innovative hotel experiences that meet the expectations of modern travelers,” Gabriel Escarrer, CEO of Meliá Hotels International told Vietnam Insider.
The Sol by Melia complex will receive 816 keys and will include four dining options, multiple pools with separate areas for adults and families, a spacious spa on its own island, a kids’ club, extensive MICE facilities and a fitness center and sports club with tennis courts.

The main hotel in the heart of the complex offers 167 rooms and suites on 15 floors. Another 111 keys will fan out in 40 villas and 29 bungalows from the main building to the white sands of Cam Ranh Bay, and two condo towers (holding a total of 538 keys) will flank either side of the main spiral building.
A nautical theme anchors both the interior and exterior with rich ocean colors from turquoise blue to golden sand and pops of bold coral. The sculptural decor and lighting in the lobby, dining areas and rooftop sky lounge are inspired by sea creatures. The facades of the condotels are reminiscent of dynamic yacht lines, while the hotel building curls like a nautilus shell.
Tropical landscaping with towering palm trees and lakes connect the spaces. The 12 treatment room spa features prominently as a wellness oasis in the middle of one of the largest ponds with massage bungalows extending over the water from the center of the Sol Spa. The wellness area also features several Jacuzzis and saunas, as well as relaxation areas with private gardens.
With the Sol by Melia brand’s focus on the family, the property has extensive facilities for children, including a kids’ club with sensory areas, a reading corner, a ball pit and a sleeping area. One of the large pools will also count with a miniature water park with slides for children.
“While we have a lot for kids, we also go beyond the traditional definition when we think of family,” adds Ignacio Martin, Meliá’s Managing Director for South East Asia. “We believe in the idea of a tribe and realize that a tribe looks different for everyone. With that in mind, we have plenty for adults in all of our Sol by Melia properties.”
There are currently 58 Sol by Meliá properties in beautiful beach destinations around the world, including Spain, Cape Verde and the Caribbean. Sol by Meliá Cam Ranh Bay will be Sol’s fourth hotel in Southeast Asia and Melia Hotels International’s 27th hotel in Vietnam.
The new hotel will be owned by HONG NGOC VIET TRAVEL & INVESTMENT JSC, a Khanh Hoa-based investment company.
