HONG KONG, December 16, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — The Academy of International Business (AIB) Asia-Pacific Regional Conference 2024 was held December 4-6 in Canton. This year’s conference, “Reimagining International Business: Accelerating Growth Through Collaboration and Digital Transformation,” attracted nearly 200 experts and academics from around the world to discuss the latest trends and challenges in international business . Teacher Bradley R. BarnesPresident of the AIB Asia-Pacific Section and Acting Associate Vice President (Global Affairs) and Director of Global Education at Lingnan Universitychaired the conference, and Prof. Cui Gengexecutive director of the Asia-Pacific section of AIB, professor of the department of marketing and international trade of Lingnan Universityorganized the event at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS), where he is currently on a two-year sabbatical leave.
Teacher Sébastien Chung Yu-ho, assistant professor in the Department of Marketing and International Business at Lingnan University spoke at a special plenary session on the economic integration of Hong Kong and the mainland. Panelists came from the education sector University of Hong KongTHE Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and the Zowoyoo Group, and they shared their views on the importance and progress of the integration of Hong Kong and the continent in recent years, particularly since the announcement of the Greater Bay strategic initiative and following the pandemic. Panelists noted that while COVID-19 has disrupted supply chains and economic activities, it has also accelerated digital transformation, highlighting the importance of regional cooperation. The GBA initiative presents a unique opportunity to improve that of Hong Kong They recognized its role as a gateway to mainland China, but this requires careful management to maintain its distinctive advantages.
Teachers of Lingnan University presented their work on a Hong Kong-mainland economic integration index and shared their ideas and perspectives in question-and-answer discussions. Booklets detailing the economic index were distributed to all participants, including industry professionals and academics, highlighting crucial developments in economic integration between Hong Kong and on the continent over the past four decades.
The conference was an excellent opportunity for Lingnan engage with leading experts and contribute to meaningful discussions about the future of international trade.
