The strong partnership behind the event is a group of like-minded organizations focused on advancing the industry and celebrating the innovation, creativity and authenticity of the region’s architects. Its origins date back to the biannual ASEAN Steel Architectural Awards, established by BlueScope in 2024 and widely acclaimed. The symposium takes place between two awards cycles and is an important platform for sharing inspiring knowledge between award winners and leading architects from across the region.
A highly anticipated feature of the symposium will be the participation of the respected Glenn Murcutt Architecture Foundation Australia. The Foundation, named after Australia’s most famous living architect and Pritzker Prize winner Glenn Murcutt AOis renowned for its commitment to culturally sensitive and environmentally friendly design. Its presence at the symposium provides a valuable opportunity for ASEAN architects to engage with world-class thought leaders. The Foundation representative is Ar. Nick Sissons, AIA, RIBA from Architects Sissonsspecialist in the design philosophy of Glenn Murcutt, who will share an overview of his work and its impact.
In addition, keynote speaker Ar. Steve Woodland, BArch FRAIA AIUS MDIA, creative director at COX Architectureone of Australia’s largest and most successful award-winning architectural practices. With over 45 years of professional experience, Steve has led the design of numerous nationally and internationally renowned projects. He will deliver an illuminating speech on emerging directions in design in Australia and beyond, focusing on the evolution of steel architecture to meet new living needs with adaptable solutions.
Additionally, there will be a series of panel discussions that will create a lively forum for collective learning with already confirmed speakers including: Ar.
