Joe Willock has finalized his deal with Newcastle and has moved to the club from Arsenal. According to Arteta, it was a good move for the young lad.
Joe Willock moved to Newcastle with a loan spell last up to 6 months, and he will stay with the Magpies until summer of 2021. Steve Bruce, current coach of Newcastle, admitted that their club was in search for box-to-box and mobile midfielder, and he expressed his interest in Willock.
Bruce confessed that the club would not have enough budget for any permanent deal, and a loan contract would be a more comfortable spending. And the club finally hooked on Willock, someone who is potential but seeing himself having a lack of time with Arsenal first squad.
After the FA Cup’s exit of Arsenal and the arise of rising lad Emile Smith Rowe, Willock’s time with the Gunners has dramatically decreased.
Willock made his debut for Arsenal in 2017, during the last year of Arsene Wenger with the Gunners. His scoring goals skill developed rapidly during these years of Unai Emery, but later on, he dropped his position to younger lad like Bukayo Saka and Smith Rowe.

His brightest accomplishment with Arsenal is his record of 8 goals scored in a total of 21 European games for the Gunners. Anyway, Willock remains to be a qualified lad despite his young age. At the age of only 21, he played in 40 English Premier League games and displayed several positions including, central midfield, right wing, left wing, deep central midfield, and so on.
He is a neat player, tidy in possession, and strong in terms of moving the ball pass the 30-yard distance. We will all have to wait for his performance in the shirt of Newcastle, but basically, Willock will have some decent qualities that Newcastle needs.
In the end, it is good move for both Willock and Arsenal. We will have a chance to see him once again in North London side, but for now, he will have space and time to develop in Newcastle.
