Budapest, Hungary,, July 24, 2025 / Prnewswire / – On July 17, 2025Tulip innovation won another injunction in German litigation concerning the battery electrode and the separator technology against the China Sunwoda Business Group based. The decision issued by the Munich The 7th Division of the District Court adds a third injunction against the Sunwoda group to two previous injunctions in Germany which were allocated to Tulip by the Court in separate case on May 22, 2025. Tulip is the license agent for a portfolio of more than 5,000 patents belonging to LG Energy Solution and Panasonic Energy, and was represented by Hogan Lovells.

The most recent decision has occurred by Tulip’s action against Sunwoda Electronic, Sunwoda mobility energy technology and their German affiliates Sunwoda Europe and Sunwoda Electric Vehicle Battery, based on the German part of the European Brevet EP 2 378 595 B1. The oral hearing took place on July 3, 2025. The decision in favor of Tulip was made two weeks after the hearing, on July 17, 2025granting Tulip the injonctor recovery requested against the batteries in question. Tulip’s additional relief requests have also been granted, including the Sunwoda obligations to recall and destroy the remaining batteries in its direct or indirect possession, to pay damage to tulip in principle and to provide detailed accounting information to allow Tulip to calculate its complaint for damages.
The new injunction highlights the strength and extent of the portfolio of battery patents authorized by Tulip, and confirms that the battery manufacturers implementing the technology covered by the portfolio will face substantial litigation loads if they choose to operate without license.

The assertive patent concerns the combination of electrodes and a battery separator, an important element for safety and performance of a car battery. The batteries in the case of the specific models used in Dacia’s spring, but the patent is applicable to any battery model since it uses patented technology.
The decision is immediately enforceable against the security service, but remains subject to the appeal by Sunwoda, and Sunwoda has filed a separate action on the patent concerning the patent.
