Applicants who do not have a blue-covered passport will not be allowed an interview and will have to reschedule, a post posted on the Facebook page of the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on Sept. 30.
Earlier, the US State Department announced that those who want to apply for a visa with a new passport form of Vietnam must add information about their place of birth.

“We recommend that individuals who have an interview appointment scheduled in the near future should add a note before the appointment date. Due to certain inconveniences of this requirement, we will continue to interview applicants without passport endorsement until the end of September,” the US Consulate General said.
The U.S. Consulate General also advised that when completing the DS-160 or DS-260 form, applicants must enter their place of birth — not their place of birth or place of birth, but the province and country of birth.
