Brussels, Belgium – News Direct – 10 August 2023 – The International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG®) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding that endorses the IAQG certification system, as sub-scope of the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA).
The IAQG certification system is designed to promote consistent and efficient certification processes in the aerospace industry while reducing the cost and complexity of supplier audits. It provides the framework for the independent and recognized certification of third-party management systems for aviation, space and defense products. Aerospace companies can be confident that suppliers holding accredited certification under the IAQG Certification System are certified to the highest quality management standards and that their products and services meet the rigorous requirements of the aerospace industry.
“The IAF MLA enables the mutual recognition of accredited certification and validation/verification statements between IAF MLA signatories, and thus the acceptance of accredited conformity assessment results in many markets on the basis of only one accreditation”, explained Emanuele Riva, president of the IAF. “Recognition of the IAQG certification scheme under the IAF MLA will enable organizations holding accredited certification for this scheme to benefit from increased market access and reduced audit costs while meeting the management standards of essential quality in the aerospace and aeronautical industry.”
Through this Memorandum of Understanding, the IAF and the IAQG will develop and maintain close cooperation to ensure harmonization of accreditation practices carried out by IAF members for the IAQG certification system. The two organizations will work together on the continuous improvement of the system in order to provide the highest level of competence to the accredited certification bodies (CBs) of the IAQG certification system.
“IAQG and IAF are world leaders in risk reduction and go beyond compliance to deliver consistently high performance,” said Andy Maher, IAQG President. “Signing this MoU will enable companies with accredited certification to expand their reach, explore new business opportunities and compete effectively in global markets, in line with the IAF’s vision:” accredited once, accepted everywhere”.
This memorandum of understanding entered into force on June 27, 2023.
