HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach Newswire – December 8, 2023 – The Hong Kong Exporters Association’s “Hong Kong Innovation & Invention” project today demonstrates the internationalization potential of local innovation, showcasing more than 50 outstanding exhibitions on local innovation at the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. Entrepreneurs Day 2023.
An initiative led by the Hong Kong Exporters Association (HKEA) and supported by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC), the project aims to foster industrial collaboration within the local innovation community and of technology (I&T). The project supports the efforts of local innovators to bring their products to the global stage to promote Hong Kong’s innovation capabilities to the world.
With the city’s strong international trade and efficient global logistics network, the I&T sector is expected to benefit from favorable conditions to expand its export activities. The internationalization of Hong Kong’s I&T industry is a growing trend. To capitalize on this trend, the community is proactively engaging in international trade exhibitions, connecting with traders around the world.
Various companies participated in the project and presented their innovations at the Entrepreneur Day, covering five major categories ranging from smart city, smart home and living, health technology and medicine, smart transportation to smart industry. I&T prototypes on display include –
- Smart city: The Automated Concrete Cube Testing System from MultiTech Logistics and Supply Chain R&D Center (LSCM) automates concrete cube testing procedures, including curing concrete cubes, measuring weight and dimensions and compression tests.
- Smart Home and Living: The wrinkle-resistant, flexible, high-contrast portable display screen from Nano and Advanced Materials Institute (NAMI) and Aiaray (Hong Kong) is the world’s only foldable, large and portable display. The screen weighs only 2.5 pounds and folds to the size of a book in seconds.
- Health technologies and medicine: Developed by the PolyU team, Liverscan is a non-invasive system guided by real-time ultrasound imaging for measuring liver stiffness and fibrosis. The system allows early diagnosis of liver fibrosis and monitoring of treatment to prevent its progression.
- Smart transportation: The E-Lock developed by LSCM helps increase the efficiency of customs clearance between Hong Kong and Guangdong, saving customs personnel time and effort when repeatedly checking the same cargo. Since its launch in 2016, the unique electronic locking system leveraging electronic locking is now applicable in 63 customs clearance points in Guangdong and Hunan provinces and 13 customs clearance points in Hong Kong.
- Smart industry: Solar Fresh, a solar panel coating invented by Sambo Technology, can decompose organic pollutants under sunlight and keep the surface of solar panels clean. Compared to uncoated panels, those with Solar Fresh coating have 20% higher power generation capacity.
