HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach – September 26, 2023 – The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) has partnered with the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) to guide aspiring innovators towards global growth opportunities and expand the entrepreneurial ecosystem innovation from Hong Kong to GEN’s 200 markets around the world. HKSTP led a delegation to Australia and participated in the Global Entrepreneurship Congress 2023 in Melbourne to explore collaboration opportunities and launch market discovery initiatives.

GEN is a global community that fosters deeper collaboration and cross-border initiatives between entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, policymakers and entrepreneurship support organizations, to enable anyone, anywhere to start and grow more easily a business.
In July this year, John Lee, Director General of the HKSAR, witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by Jonathan Ortmans, Founder and Chairman of GEN, and Dr Sunny Chai, Chairman of HKSTP, committing both parties to support entrepreneurship in ASEAN countries. To accelerate the partnership, HKSTP joined GEC 2023 in Melbourne from September 19 to 22 with a delegation of fast-growing startups and business leaders from Hong Kong. The delegation highlighted Hong Kong’s world-class I&T ecosystem and its potential for collaboration with counterparts in the global GEN network. The influx of new talents and businesses will further strengthen Hong Kong’s mission as an international I&T hub, creating opportunities for all innovators.

The delegation also met with representatives of the Australian startup community, universities, government agencies and investors to further explore business and collaboration opportunities. In addition, the delegation shared experiences and exchanged ideas with Australian technology companies interested in learning and exploring the Hong Kong market.
HKSTP also presented its market discovery program in Hong Kong and shared details with companies interested in expanding into the Hong Kong, Great Britain and mainland China markets. The two-day intensive market discovery program will be held in Hong Kong on November 6-7, 2023, with numerous seminars, tours and networking opportunities to connect entrepreneurs with experts, investors, business leaders as well as entrepreneurs who have successfully developed their business in the past. within the region.
