The iconic Hanoi Opera House is set to close for renovation and the process will take place from 2023-2025
The makeover may be shortened to a year, Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, director of Hanoi Opera House, told Thanh Nien Newspaper on Monday.
Architect Ho Thieu Tri, who participated in the renovation project of the Hanoi Opera House in 1997, will also take part in the renovation. “After 25 years, Tri is passionate to be a part of this renovation project,” Nguyet said.
The Relics Conservation Institute, which took part in the previous renovation, will also join this project.
Regarding the reason for the project, Nguyet said that there was no sign of deterioration in the theater. This renovation is for the stage and equipment, as well as the curtains and seats.
The campus on both sides of the garden will also be renovated.
Nguyet said that after the makeover is complete, the Hanoi Opera House will open a tour for visitors as expected by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Construction of the Hanoi Opera House started in 1901 and was completed in 1911.
