The first phase of the collaboration saw
over 3,200 desktop resources be reused, redistributed or recycled, with success
divert nearly 140,000 kg of municipal waste from landfills And
avoid more than 510 tons of carbon emissions—the equivalent of the carbon emissions generated by more than 3,000 flights between Hong Kong and Singapore.

Since May 2023, Hang Lung has been carrying out a major rejuvenation project for its Hong Kong offices, which aims to create workplaces that promote well-being, engagement and a collaborative culture. With sustainability being one of the company’s core values, extensive reviews were conducted to identify ways to minimize the project’s environmental impacts and promote employee and community well-being. Measures implemented under the program include:
1)
Staff Takeaway Program: Employees of Hang Lung in Hong Kong were encouraged to take home office furniture and well-maintained electronics, including office chairs, pedestals, computer monitors and ovens, free of charge. The first round of the program was well received, with
nearly 90 employees participant.
2)
Donation to NGOs: 182 office materials were donated to
14 NGOs in the initial phase of the collaborationincluding Crossroads Foundation, Oxfam Hong Kong and Hong Kong PHAB Association, covering different NGO sectors in Hong Kong. These assets help support the planning and implementation of their community projects.
3)
Reuse: Hang Lung currently uses many desktop resources recycled in his temporary office, while others are stored for reuse at the end of the project.
4)
Recycling: Resources that cannot be reused, such as wooden desks, will be processed and transformed into items such as desk panels for secondary use.
5)
To recycle: Other remaining non-reusable resources will be sent to local recyclers for processing to maximize their circular economy benefits.
