SINGAPORE – Media OutReach – September 13, 2023 – DHL Group calls on its employees to get involved in Global Volunteer Day (GVD) now in its 15th year, with the main period of activity running from September 18 on October 1st. employees around the world, the company is building on its past successes and marking the occasion with special events.
DHL Volunteering GVD

First introduced in Singapore in 2008, GVD is now a global initiative: DHL Group encourages its employees to volunteer in non-profit projects in the countries where they live. Over the years, some 1.3 million volunteers have answered the call, devoting more than 3.1 million hours to volunteering in their home communities. In 2022, more than 5,800 employees volunteered 22,000 hours in 300 projects across the Asia-Pacific region. Across all DHL Group divisions, employees focused their activities on environmental protection, disaster management, education and vocational training, refugee assistance, health and well-being, as well as as social services. This makes GVD an effective lever for team building and employee engagement.

This is why the DHL Group encourages and supports World Volunteer Day activities. We are proud of the positive impact our employees are making with their GVD projects. our employees have devoted more than 3.1 million hours to volunteering since 2008 and some 100,000 employees mobilize each year to volunteer with GVD. For us, it’s not just about being part of a team, but having a sense of belonging. being part of a community and working to make things better for the people and places around us.
In this 15th anniversary year, “Follow the Sun” is the slogan of GVD 2023 that inspires DHL Group volunteers. For 15 weeks, they work on GVD projects in 15 countries from east to west. Across the world, these GVD anniversary activities are underway in New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Madagascar, Serbia, Uganda, Germany, United Kingdom, Paraguay, in Panama, Colombia and the United States. Employees are free to choose the types of projects and activities they work on. The only requirement is that they are aligned with the priority areas that constitute the DHL Group sustainability strategy. With its long-standing initiatives GoTeach, GoHelp, GoTrade and GoGreen, the company supports projects focused on climate protection, improving youth employability, disaster management and trade facilitation for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries. A wide range of projects also benefit from financial support from the Group’s Improving Lives fund.
