JOHOR BAHRU, MALAYSIA – Media OutReach – December 8, 2023 – Gleneagles Hospital Johor (GHJ), in collaboration with the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Johor Branch and the Neurointerventional Society of Malaysia (MyNIS), successfully hosted the “Neuroconference 2023: MyNIS Annual Scientific Meeting” December 2 and 3. The two-day event provided a dynamic platform for professionals from various medical disciplines.
The event brought together over 70 participants comprised of physicians specializing in interventional radiology, radiology, emergency medicine, neurosurgery, primary care and neuroscience, addressed the changing landscape of stroke management and was opened by Dr. Kamal Amzan, CEO of Gleneagles. Hospital Johor, paving the way for an intellectually stimulating experience.
In his speech, Dr Kamal highlighted the importance of this annual conference, organized to address the health challenges posed by an aging population and increasing non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
“By investing in the education and training of new professionals in interventional neurology, we are taking a proactive step toward reducing premature morbidity and mortality associated with neurological disorders,” he said.

Agendas included crucial aspects such as patient care, extended treatment windows, early identification and triage, regional planning, management of intracranial hemorrhage, and the latest research and guidelines in thrombectomy .
The event was kicked off with a welcome speech by Dr Md Yuzairif Md Yusof, Consultant Neurointerventional Radiologist from Gleneagles Hospital, Johor, followed by a keynote address from Assoc. Teacher. Dr Khairul Azmi Abd Kadir, Chairman of MyNIS who celebrated the historic progress of the company.

The event featured two specialist streams: a neurointervention stream focusing on acute stroke, aneurysms, spinal AV-dural fistula and AVMs, as well as a stroke masterclass.
The second day continued with a hands-on workshop at Gleneagles Hospital in Johor, providing participants with an immersive experience on procedures such as thrombectomy and flow diversion in the angiography laboratories on the ground floor and on level 2 of the hospital.
