JOHOR BAHRU, MALAYSIA – Media OutReach – December 1, 2023 – The second edition of the All-Women Healthcare Symposium, organized by Gleneagles Hospital Johor (GHJ) in collaboration with the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) and the Malaysia Menopause Society (MMS), concluded recently at the Renaissance Hotel Johor Bahru. The event, held on November 26, was attended by nearly 350 participants and brought together 29 medical experts who shared their latest discoveries, research and clinical advances in the field of women’s health. The discussions aimed not only to improve health care practices, but also to understand the changing needs of women as they approach, during and after menopause.

Dr. Kamal Amzan, CEO of GHJ, opened the symposium with a message of inclusiveness and the importance of community in healthcare innovation. Datuk Dr Mohan Kandasamy and Dr Ho Choon Moy, notable figures in the medical field, delivered keynote speeches that set the collaborative tone for the day’s sessions.

Dr. Kamal reflected on the success of the symposium, saying, “We are proud to be leading the transformation of women’s healthcare. This event demonstrates our unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation in medical care. His words encapsulate the hospital’s leadership in promoting health care initiatives. “Through efforts like this, Gleneagles aims to lead the way in specialty healthcare. Our goal is to shape a future where every woman has access to the care she deserves,” he added.

Speeches by Professor Dr Jamiyah Hassan on the empowering role of healthcare in women’s lives, particularly as it relates to cancer, and Dr Ho Choon Moy on the cardiovascular challenges faced by women, were among the highlights strong of the day.

The symposium program, divided into three parts, addressed a broad spectrum of health problems, from gynecological problems to cardiovascular problems, with an emphasis on a comprehensive approach to health care. An interactive workshop on communication highlighted the importance of dialogue and understanding between healthcare providers and patients.

One of the highlights of this year’s event was the exchange of practical knowledge and demonstration of techniques that healthcare professionals can incorporate into their practice. The workshop, which was not purely medical, was a new addition to the symposium and provided skill-building exercises in effective communication, thereby improving the provider-patient relationship.

Each sub-symposium concluded with a lively Q&A session, which opened the door to even more meaningful and engaging dialogue.

Conference Director Dr. Sharifah Halimah Jaafar delivered thoughtful closing remarks to mark the end of the symposium. She recognized the collective effort of speakers and attendees toward the common goal of improving women’s health outcomes.

The All-Women Healthcare Symposium 2023 served as a channel for education and collaboration, facilitating knowledge exchange and fostering partnerships among healthcare professionals. This symposium, now in its second year, reaffirmed the commitment of GHJ and its partners to address the health challenges facing women, fighting for a future where every woman receives comprehensive health care and compassionate.
