In 2022, after maintaining a long-term supplier relationship with Schneider, GEODIS won a three-year contract for air freight services between France and China and, despite a difficult market environment, proved itself worthy of this major supplier award.
In seeking a resilient, long-term partner that could help optimize costs, Schneider also prioritized delivery agility and scalability. In GEODIS, it found a collaborator who integrated its air freight expertise with superior customer service. Schneider Electric’s needs were assessed through close collaboration with staff in China and Europe during the eight-month negotiation period, and GEODIS subsequently won the contract.
Under this new contract, GEODIS France transports freight from Schneider’s manufacturing plant in Evreux to Charles De Gaulle Airport to be flown to China for distribution to domestic markets. The contract also covers goods moving in the opposite direction, from Shanghai and Beijing to Paris, with delivery to Schneider entities. The main success criteria for GEODIS have been the commitment of service operators on volumes, as well as the guarantee of sufficient air freight capacity and compliance with agreed transit times.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, maintaining a reliable supply of capacity while optimizing costs remained a challenge. To provide Schneider with the flexibility and consistency it needed, GEODIS designed a unique integrated solution that combines AirDirect services from its own network with third-party commercial carriers.
