GameStop is allegedly offering its Pro members a paid subscription just to pre-order a PlayStation 5 unit. The bad thing about this is that the service still doesn’t offer 100% assurance.

Some critics claimed that GameStop’s rumored issue is a serious offense since PlayStation 5 is still one of the most in-demand gaming consoles in the market.
Because of its popularity, various retailers and online stores, specifically Amazon, Target, and even the official online shop of Sony, are continuously running out of stocks.
Since this is still the current situation, many individuals tend to do anything just to buy a PlayStation 5. Some of them even grab the deals offered by scalpers, which are really expensive compared to the console’s original price.
Now GameStop is accused of taking advantage of the current PS5 scarcity in the market.
GameStop’s Paid PS5 Pre-Order Subscription
Recently, GameStop PS5 restock happened. Aside from this retailer, Target, Amazon, Walmart, and other online stores also claimed that new units of the popular gaming console have arrived.

Although this is the case, many consumers were still unable to grab one of their own. Because of this, GameStop allegedly sent a promotional email message to its paid PowerUp Rewards members.
“To show our appreciation we’re opening Early Online Access for Pro members only to purchase a PlayStation 5 or PC Graphics Card today at 10:00 a.m. CST on gamestop.com,” said GameStop via Kotaku’s latest report.
“This won’t guarantee you’ll get one of these products – quantities are extremely limited – but we wanted to help provide our best guests with a better opportunity to score one of these high-demand items,” added the retailer.
As of the moment, GameStop still hasn’t released any statement regarding the allegation. Although the rumored paid subscription issue seems legitimate, the best thing to do right now is waiting for the company’s actual announcements.
How To Grab A PS5 Unit?
Before you accept any offer from various retailers, you need to remember that no service or method will provide you 100% assurance when it comes to snagging your own PlayStation 5.
Instead, The Wired reported that you need to follow these methods to increase your luck:
- Always save the PS5 you have in your cart, even if you failed to purchase the console in time. This will give you a higher chance of the next restock.
- Sign up for accounts with Sony and every retailer you’re tracking.
- Always join Sony’s offered queue system.
- Always check the Twitter pages of Amazon, GameStop, Target, and other retailers to have the latest PS5 restock updates.
- Before the actual restock date, ready your PC and always keep your tabs open.
