According to the General Tax Authorities, the above results are a positive signal in the coordination of tax declarations and collections between the Vietnamese tax authorities and foreign suppliers from the beginning of the new year. This also shows the trust, reputation and serious compliance with tax laws by foreign suppliers for e-commerce and digital business activities in the territory of Vietnam.
According to the General Tax Office, in implementation of Prime Minister’s Directive No. 03/CT-TTg of January 27, 2023 on insistence on the performance of duties after the Lunar New Year Holiday 2023, this authority has instructed the tax authorities of provinces and cities and the Tax Office Department of Large Enterprises focuses on strictly performing the duties of revenue management, ensuring proper, sufficient, timely collection, expansion and effective exploitation of state budget revenue.
In particular, in 2022, the General Tax Administration has implemented an electronic portal for foreign suppliers and a portal for receiving information from e-commerce platforms. After more than 8 months of implementation (from March 21, 2022), at the end of 2022, 45 suppliers have registered, filed a declaration and paid taxes via the Portal for foreign suppliers.
