The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will work with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to finalize detailed plans for the resumption of tourism and establish a visa policy for foreign tourists.

Vietnamese visa is a type of travel document issued by Vietnamese competent authorities that gives permission to travel to and enter Vietnam.

An electronic visa (E-visa) is one of the visa types issued to foreigners by the Vietnamese Immigration Service through an electronic system. Vietnam E-visa is valid for a maximum of 30 days, single entry.

Outside Vietnam, foreigners who want to enter Vietnam can apply for a personal E-visa or through the inviting/guaranteeing bodies and organisations.

E-visa fees are paid through electronic payment gateway as directed by Immigration Department. If the application is rejected, the fee will not be refunded.

Conditions for obtaining an e-visa:
  • Outside Vietnam foreigners;
  • In possession of a valid passport;
  • Not covered in the cases of suspension of entry prescribed in Article 21 of the Law on Entry, Exit, and Transit of Foreigners in Vietnam.

    Vietnam is currently launching a pilot e-Visa system for citizens of: 80 countries
  2. How long does it take to obtain an e-Visa?
    An e-Visa will be processed within 03 business days after the Vietnamese Immigration Service has received the completed application and the full e-Visa fee.
  3. How long is an e-Visa valid?
    An e-Visa is single entry and valid for a maximum of 30 days.
  4. What is the minimum passport expiry date to apply for an e-Visa?
    Under Vietnamese law, the expiry date of the visa must be at least 30 days before the expiry date of the passport. Therefore, an e-Visa expiry date must also be at least 30 days before the expiry date of the passport.
  5. How can I check the result of my e-Visa?
    Follow these steps to check the result of an e-Visa:
    Step 1: Visit the page:
    Step 2: Provide required information, including registration code, email and date of birth, to check and print your e-Visa Result.

Procedures for applying for an e-visa

  1. How can I apply to stay in Vietnam longer than my e-Visa allows?
    After entering Vietnam with an e-Visa, you can ask an agency/organization/person in Vietnam to guarantee your stay and apply for a new visa on your behalf from the Vietnamese Immigration Service in accordance with Section 1, Article 16 of the Law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam.
  2. Can a Vietnamese citizen invite or guarantee my stay in Vietnam and apply for an e-Visa on my behalf?
    Vietnamese citizens are not allowed to guarantee a foreigner’s stay in Vietnam with an e-Visa. Foreigners must apply for an e-Visa, either themselves or through a guarantor agency or organization in Vietnam.
  3. How does an inviting or assuring authority or organization apply for an e-Visa on my behalf?
    Inviting or assuring authorities or organizations must follow these steps:
    Step 1: Request an account and electronic signature via Form 03 to login.
    Step 2: Provide the required information of the foreign applicant, sign the application with the registered electronic signature and pay the e-Visa fee to complete the procedure.
  4. As an airline representative, how can I search for the e-Visa information of passengers flying to Vietnam?
    You can check passenger e-Visa information as follows:
    Step 1:Request an account using form 03.
    Step 2:Log in with the account to check passenger e-Visa information.

Complete the e-Visa application

  1. What photos are required for the application?
    Two photos of the applicant must be uploaded:
    – Portrait photo (4x6cm): Looking straight and without glasses.
    – Passport data page: full page including photo, personal information and ICAO lines.
  2. What if my name is too long or contains special characters?
    Write your full name as it appears in the ICAO line of your passport details page.
  3. Is it necessary to fill in all the required information in the application?
    Yes. You must complete all required information to be eligible for an e-Visa.

E-Visa fees and payment

  1. How much are the costs for the e-Visa?
    The current e-Visa fee is 25USD.
  2. How can I pay for my e-Visa
    Payment is made via bank account. Follow these steps to make a payment:
    Step 1: Choose 1 of the 4 payment methods listed on the webpage.
    Step 2: Provide the required information and click “Pay” to complete the procedure.
  3. If my e-Visa is declined or unused, will my payment be refunded?
    New. Payments for e-Visa applications are non-refundable.

Entry and exit with an e-Visa

  1. Which entry and exit checkpoints allow e-visa holders to enter and exit Vietnam?
    E-Visa holders can enter and exit Vietnam through any checkpoint in 33 international checkpoints

  2. If I use my e-Visa to enter/exit Vietnam, what should I do at the checkpoint?
    Holders of an e-visa must present the printed e-visa and a valid passport at the checkpoint.
  3. Do I have to enter Vietnam on the exact date specified in my e-Visa application?
    The validity period of your e-Visa starts from the date stated in your approved e-Visa document. You can enter Vietnam on any date within this validity period.
  4. Can I enter Vietnam before or after the validity period stated in my e-Visa?
    New. You cannot enter Vietnam before or after the validity period stated in your e-Visa.
  5. What should I do if I want to enter Vietnam before the validity period of my e-Visa?
    You must complete a new e-Visa application. The previous e-Visa application will be canceled once the new e-Visa is issued.
