Google Assistant has finally landed on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series. While many smartwatches are upgrading their OS, the South Korean tech titan still seems to be using Wear OS 3 for its wearables.

This is how you install the Google Assistant on your Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatch.
The Galaxy Watch 4 series came out last year at Samsung’s Unpacked event. This next-gen smartwatch lineup features the latest Google Wear operating system, paving the way for new features.
Of course, installing Google’s AI assistant is one of the most exciting tasks you can do with this wearable.
Your handheld must be near the smartwatch before moving on to the actual setup process. You also need to make sure it’s connected to it, according to XDA Developers.
- First, open the app drawer by swiping up on your Galaxy Watch 4.
- When accessing the Google Play Store, go to the “My Apps” section. You can now see an pending update about the Google Assistant.
- If you haven’t seen an update on it, you can just use the search bar in the PlayStore.
- Then click “Update” to start the app installation process.
- After downloading Google Assistant, open it.
- Tap “Get Started” and set up the app on your smartphone.
- Once you’re done, just follow the instructions you get to enable Google Assistant on Galaxy Watch 4.

Can you sideload Google Assistant on Galaxy Watch 4?
Sideloading is often done on Android devices if you want to install an app in APK format. The same process also applies to Google Assistant, but it is limited to certain countries such as the US, UK, Korea, Taiwan, Ireland, Japan, France, Canada, Germany, and Australia.
However, the digital assistant is not yet available for other markets, so here’s how to get it via APK.
- Go to the APKMirror website and install Assistant (Wear OS) 1.0.0.445971688.release.
- Then go to the PlayStore and download Easy Fire Tools.
- Continuously click “Software Version” until the message “Developer mode enabled” appears.
- Go back to the main settings and look for “Developer options”. It’s above the ‘Software Update’.
- Open the developer options and enable “ADB” debugging.
- Write the IP address placed under “Debug via Wi-Fi”. Ditch the four “5” digits at the end.
- From your phone, open Easy Fire Tools and tap the hamburger menu.
- From there, go to the settings and then to the IP address.
- Delete the existing IP address and replace it with a new one. Click OK to save the changes.
- Click the Plug icon to initiate the ADB connection to the Galaxy Watch 4. A friendly reminder: Always connect your watch and your phone to Wi-Fi.
