After conducting surveys and explorations, international experts have discovered some new branches and about 175 meters more in the longest volcanic cave in Southeast Asia.
From November 22-26, 2022, international experts surveyed and explored a number of caves in Krong No volcanic cave system, Dak Nong province.
International experts investigate the longest volcanic cave in Southeast Asia
The Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark Management Board said that according to an announcement by experts, the exploration process of C7 cave – the longest volcanic cave in Southeast Asia – has discovered a number of new branches with a total length of about 175 meters. With this new discovery, the length of the C7 cave increased to more than 1,240 meters.
According to information from the Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark Management Board, the team of experts will return to C7 cave in the coming days to conduct measurements and 3D mapping inside the cave. This will be a valuable source of scientific data for the international geological heritage of the province and will add value to the upcoming reassessment file.

Krong No Volcanic Cave is a volcanic cave system in basaltic rock about 10 km long, which has set a record for its size, length and uniqueness in Southeast Asia, was discovered by scientists in 2014.
While investigating and studying the cave system, scientists have discovered traces of the abode of prehistoric tribes about 6,000 – 7,000 years ago.
In September 2018, scientists announced the living traces of prehistoric humans found in the cave above.
