The fourth annual research of trusted checks for the construction of Kennards Hire shows that industry leaders remain optimistic about growth, but proceed to caution measured in the middle of the challenges.

The results indicate a processing sector, which moves away from models at fixed cost and towards more flexible, durable and circular means to work to meet changing expectations and maintain momentum.

Delays and ineffectiveness draining industry resources
Confidence can be high, but operational ineffectiveness always lead to the delivery of the project and profitability. Among the Anz commercial decision -makers who declared that they had experienced impact on delays or a reduction in productivity, one in three estimates that these challenges affect an average of 15.5% of the total cost of a typical construction project.
Other key contributors include:
- Lack of quality or materials available (38%)
- Lost time manage several suppliers and project managers (36%)
- Lack of expertise specializing in project management (35%)
- Lack of skilled labor to perform specific work tasks (35%)
- Obsolete equipment (33%)
These points of pain are still amplified by global pressures, with 92% of Anz construction chiefs claiming that they were affected by prices, shipping delays and commercial regulations in the past year.
Change to smarter circular solutions
Under the mounting pressure to provide faster, thinner and more durable results, the construction industry is moving away from traditional heavy property models. In its place, more agile, circular and emerging approaches, companies prioritize the long -term efficiency, flexibility and sustainability.
According to the 2025 report, the main priorities of Anz decision -makers in the next 12 months include:
- Invest in technology (60%) to improve visibility, planning and delivery of the project
- Specialized Externalization Expertise (51%) to fill capacity gaps and reduce general coordination costs
- Hire or rent equipment (36%) to increase flexibility and avoid inactive assets

As regulatory and market pressures are intensifying, Anz construction companies are increasingly incorporating sustainability and development of labor in the heart of their operation. Environmental, social and governance priorities (ESG) are gaining momentum:
- 59% said they would prioritize the Green Building Council Australia certifications and New Zealand Green Building Council to validate sustainability diplomas within the framework of their 5 main ESG factors in which they grant or invest.
- While 49% prioritize or invest in ecological tools and carbon compensation strategies, and an additional 48% turn to sustainable building materials in their 5 main ESG factors
At the same time, the transformation of the workforce emerges as a lever of critical growth. In a competitive labor market, long -term value exceeds short -term advantages. To attract and keep talents, Anz decision -makers identified the following as their priority among the first 3:
- Training and development programs for the acquisition of new skills (65%)
- Improvement of work-life balance thanks to flexible planning (65%)
- Professional advancement opportunities in the industry (57%)
