Hong Kong,, September 4, 2025 / Prnewswire / – CNOOC Limited (The “Company”, Sehk: 00883 (HKD counter) and 80883 (RMB counter), SSE: 600938) announces today that the Wenchang 16-2 oil field development project began production.
The project is located in the western basin of the Pearl river, with an average water depth of around 150 meters. The development of the project mainly operates the adjacent existing installations of the Wenchang oil fields, with the addition of a new jacket platform incorporating functions such as oil and gas production, offshore drilling and completion operations as well as staff accommodation. In total, 15 development wells should be put into service. The project is expected to obtain a set production of around 11,200 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2027. The petroleum property is light raw.
CNOOC Limited holds 100% interest in this project and is the operator.
